The Hinton Estate Vineyard is located in Central Otago, which also comprises of the Hinton Hill Wines cellar door. The vineyard was set up and planted in the year 1997 on a hilly site that was ideal for growing the Pinot Noir grape variety, the predominant variety of the region. Since the establishment of the vineyard, many new varieties like Rose, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Viognier and Gewurztraminer have also come up here. Howie Hinton, owner and chief winemaker of the estate, has worked closely together with various international winemakers who have produced some of the best Pinot Noir wines in the world. Although Hinton Hill produces distinct wine varietals that are flavoursome as well as elegant, Howie has added a number of New Zealand wines to the cellar door’s wine list, which are sold under the Hinton Hill Country label. Owing to Howie’s dedication and efforts, Hinton Hill has achieved many milestones and reached new heights.
