Hole In The Water Wines

Hole In The Water Wines

Hole in the Water wines are produced by Konrad Wines Ltd. and are all from the Marlborough Region. The Waihopai Valley, where all these wines are grown is often referred to as The “hole in the water”, due to it being one of New Zealand’s sunniest and driest areas. In the bright sunny, but relatively “cool” condition, the aromatic grape varieties have the advantage of a long slow ripening period. Long sunshine hours which assist the production of sugar for ripe grapes and cool nights, preserving the passion fruit, lime and tropical fruit characters of the aromatic wines offered under this label. This makes them typical examples of the varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are near the frost line, protected with the wind and water frost fighting systems, are therefore very similar in climate conditions, like many regions in the cooler parts of Europe, where most of these varieties originated.
