The evolution of Mitchelton Wines has been inspiring. In the year 1994, it initially joined the Petaluma Group of wineries and a few years later, it teamed up with the Lion Wine portfolio. The winemakers at Mitchelton value quality winemaking and viticulture and thus, they have invested huge sums of money in order to equip the winery with state - of - the - art machines and technology. The winemaking team at Mitchelton follows a strong philosophy of culture and ethics, which makes it capable of producing premium - quality Australian wines. In the year 2004, after 30 successful years of winemaking, chief winemaker Don Lewis decided to pass on the reign. John Beresford and Toby Barlow were appointed chief viticulturist and winemaker respectively and they carried on the Mitchelton tradition of making Rhone varieties and Victorian Shiraz wines. Currently, Travis Clydesdale and John Beresford head the winemaking team at Mitchelton.
