Pocketwatch wines is a range of wines under the famous Robert Oatley wine brand. This series is a tribute to James Oatley (1770-1839), the great great grandfather of Bob Oatley. James was one of Australia's early convict settlers and a master watch & clock maker who was pardoned by Governor Macquarie. He was appointed as the Keeper of the Sydney Town Hall Clock and commissioned to install the turret clock (still functioning) in the pediment of the Hyde Park Barracks. He received a number of land grants as a remuneration from Governor Brisbane, including a 300-acre lot that is now the suburb of Oatley. The wines under pocketwatch series are made from grapes grown in the various regions of Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
