Fruit used to craft this wine was picked in two separate batches a week apart from each other. The process of maturation was employed in new as well as used American and European oak barrels. Witches Fall Merlot shows a deep crimson colour, with the luscious nose giving off fragrances of ripe raspberries and dark cherries. The palate is supple and ripe, abundantly filled with flavours of red cherry and plum, and coated with velvety tannins. Providing a satisfying and pleasant climax, this wine has a cellaring potential of about 5 to 8 years, tasting wonderful served with lamb shanks.
Working for Orlando-Wyndham, Jon Heslop realised his passion for wine and decided to become a winemaker. Learning the craft after relocating to several revered Australian wine regions, he finally settled near Tamborine Mountain with his family and established Witches Falls in August 2004. Witches Falls is now a respected wine company, crafting premium quality Australian wines using fruit sourced from the Granite Belt region.
