Xanadu Wines is a family-owned wine estate, managed by the Rathbone family since 2005. The estate covers a total of three vineyards – the Stevens Road, Lagan and Boodjidup Estate Vineyards, managed by Vineyard Supervisor Suzie Muntz. Irish immigrant, Dr John Lagan established the company in 1977, by planting his very first vines in the Margaret River wine region.
Xanadu Exmoor Cabernet Sauvignon is a fusion of 9% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot and the small amount of Malbec grapes with 85% Cab Sauv grapes. The final blend features a deep red hue accompanied by a bright ruby rim. The fragrant nose is perfumed with vibrant scents of dark plums, blackcurrants and berries, with light suggestions of spicy and toasty oak lurking in the background. This enticing Cabernet is generous on the palate, filled with luscious flavours of cassis, chocolate and jubey forest fruits. Fleshy fruit flavours are supported by refined tannins, ending the wine in a persistent finish. Berry fruit notes mark the finale. This full-bodied red wine can be enjoyed fresh upon release or after storing in the cellar for five years. It serves best with grilled ahi tuna, bittersweet chocolate and Cheddar cheese.
