Angove Long Row Pinot Grigio
January 19, 2016
Angove Wine story goes back to 1886 when Dr William Thomas Angove came to Australia from England with his spouse. He settled in Tea Tree Gully, an area which is not more than twenty kilometres from Adelaide, South Australia. Here, Doctor Angove established a small farm where he began to grow vines. He used this fruit to make wine as a tonic to cure patients. From these humble beginnings, Angove has now grown into a marvellous family-owned wine business. The business is being run by Angove’s the fifth generation now. Their vineyard, Warboys, lies very close to McLaren Vale. This vineyard is completely organic and environment-friendly.
Angove Wines are known all over South Australia for their great aromas and flavours. They bring out wines under a number of brands, each having some special characteristics of its own. Some of these series include Family Crest, Wild Olive, The Singles, Nine Vines, Long Row, Sugar and Spice, Studio Series, Cross Stitch and Avior etc.
My personal favourite from these is the Long Row series and Angove Long Row Pinot Grigio in particular. It is a very reasonably priced white delight. Pale straw in colour, it displays lush aromas of pears, apples and peaches. The wine has a deliciously flavoured palate and finishes crisp and clean. It has been a winner of many awards and accolades in 2013 as well as 2014. With a cellaring potential of three to five years, this fabulous wine is best enjoyed with grilled seafood and Asian cuisine.
