WINERY INFORMATION
Considered one of the most important wineries in the McLaren Vale wine region, d’Arenberg was founded by Joseph Osborn in the year 1912. Together with his son Frank, Joseph acquired several lush vineyards. In the early years of the business, grapes were only grown for other wineries. The estate winery was constructed in 1927.
TASTING NOTES
The Noble Mud Pie Viognier Arneis is a delightful blend of 95% Viognier grapes with a small percentage of Arneis grapes. The use of Botrytis Cinerea, otherwise known as ‘noble rot’, has resulted in sweet and concentrated fruit flavours. Basket pressing was carried out before fermentation to enhance the viscosity and complexity of this blend. This process resulted in a deep golden coloured wine accompanied by an orange mist. The attractive bouquet gives off rich aromas of dried apricots. The luscious palate is dominated by flavours of apricot, honey, cumquat, cinnamon, tinned pineapple and ginger bread. Crisp acidity drives the intense palate to a clean finish. This stunning white blend tastes wonderful with triple cheese cheesecake, as well as Thai and Indian cuisines.
