WINERY INFORMATION:

Eden Valley is famous all over the world for producing outstanding quality Riesling grapes, and this 2015 Thorn Riesling is a perfect reflection of Eden Valley’s magnificence. The 2015 vintage was blessed with unseasonably cool summer conditions as well as an early autumn, which helped produce fruits of intriguing flavours and natural acidity. The fruit was picked in the cool of the night, and delicately de-stemmed without crushing in order to decrease skin contact. The best portions of free run juice were selected and subjected to stainless steel cold fermentation. Small portions from old-grown vines were taken for gentle pressing, chilling and stainless steel fermentation with wild yeast. After 4 weeks of maturation on yeast lees, the wine was finally bottled and released.

TASTING NOTES:

This delicious Riesling has a pale green colour, with light yellow tints around the edges. The nose is intensely fragrant, exhibiting notes of citrus and floral perfume along with hints of spiced apple pie and lemonade. The tight and refined palate features natural acidity that provides great length and linearity. The delicate mid palate is filled with flavours of lime, green apple and lemon that lead to a long and chalky finish. Although fit for consumption upon release, this wine can be cellared for a medium term so that its flavours and characters can develop further. Perfect as an aperitif, this wine also pairs well with beef curry, vegetable dishes or lemony cuisines.
