WINERY INFORMATION

Houghton is the tenth largest producer of white and red wines in Australia. Established in 1836 by British soldiers, Houghton has been consistently making wines of remarkable quality throughout the years, under the care and tutelage of 13 winemakers. The most well known Houghton vintner is Jack Mann, who crafted the Houghton White Burgundy, one of Australia’s favourite wines.

TASTING NOTES

This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep red hued wine. It has a very earthy bouquet of blackcurrant, plum and blackberry, with subtle scents of liquorice and tomato leaf supporting the primary aromas. The palate features cassis, tobacco leaf and plum flavours. French oak contributed to the development of a complex and interesting flavour that is complementary to the fruit length. Well balanced acidity and fine tannins are other delightful components of this wine. This wine is best paired with lamb chops, veal, burgers, beef stews, and fillet mignon.
