Offering a unique and relaxing experience, it also hosts a number of adventure activities.

A Brief History

Cowra wine region was named after the Cowra township in NSW. Before having earned a reputation for viticulture, the region was famous as a historic site where war camps were set up for the Japanese soldiers in WWⅡ. Viticulture was introduced here in the year 1973, and since then, it has emerged to become one of the premium wine regions in Australia.

• With over 40 vineyards, it is home to some of the famous labels along with quality boutique wineries. The region is especially known for the practice of organic viticulture.
• Cowra Wine Show’ - One of Australia’s largest and most-awaited events, it takes place in the month of July showcasing the best wines produced in the country.
• It offers a range of activities like watersports, hot-air balloon flight along with picturesque sites where one could appreciate the nature’s beauty while sipping a glass of the region’s best wine.

The Climate

Cowra wine region experiences a warm and dry climate. The high variations in diurnal temperature is a key factor that encouraged the establishment of renowned labels and numerous boutique wineries.

The vineyards enjoy loamy sand and clay loam soil that is brownish in colour.

Must-Try Wines

Endowed with perfect conditions for grape growing, the region has earned a reputation for producing red and white wines that are complex and deep. Shiraz and Cab Sav are the most-widely harvested grape varieties of the region. Cowra is equally known for exceptional Chardonnay and Semillon wines.
