Leaping Lizard Shiraz – Fiery Red Wonder

Leaping Lizard is an exquisite range of wines hailing from Ferngrove Wine Estate. These wines boast of a unique and mesmerizing collection that genuinely portrays elegant regional as well as varietal elements of Western Australia. This series was named after a reptile called the ‘leaping lizard’ that resembles the form of a dragon, having strong hind legs and big, attractive frills all around its neck. Like this powerful creature, Leaping Lizard wines too are bold, mighty and special.

Leaping Lizard Shiraz

Although this range features four wonderful and distinct varietals that are perfect for all kinds of occasions and celebrations, the wine that stands out is Leaping Lizard Shiraz. This sophisticated and full-bodied Shiraz is a marvellous Western Australian delight with a deep crimson colour highlighted with vibrant red tinges. It is crafted using Shiraz grapes that are harvested in the cool of the morning so that the fresh and juicy flavours remain locked inside. After these ripe grapes are crushed, their juice is fermented in closed containers for about eight days. The process of maturation takes place in lightly - seasoned French oak hogsheads for a year and a half, adding complexity and texture to the wine.

The bouquet exhibits spices and dark berries like blueberry, blackberry and Satsuma plum. The mouthwatering palate displays flavoursome notes of dark fruit, plums and berries combined with smooth and fine tannins that lead to a lingering finale. Leaping Lizard Shiraz can be enjoyed fresh or cellared for about five years to enhance its structure and flavour profile. Pair it with beef burger, mutton chops, pasta primavera, duck and other game dishes etc.
