Wicks Estate Cabernet Sauvignon – Striking Dark Fruits
December 24, 2015
The 2013 vintage of the Wicks Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for making joyous moments memorable and celebrating important events in your life with friends and family. Each bottle of the Wicks Estate vintage has been carefully created to bring you delicious wine varietals crafted using top - class winemaking techniques.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were imported from a mix of different parcels in single vineyards situated in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia. Vine blocks were divided up into numerous smaller parcels so that different kinds of fermentation and other techniques can be tested on the grapes in order to yield richer and juicier fruits. Yeast strains of various kinds were introduced to estate - grown grapes before they were subjected to fermentation. After 8 - 14 days, the parcels were squeezed to extract the juice from the grapes. The wine was then sealed in French oak barriques for 12 months to allow it to mature. 20% of these barriques were new and fresh.
The growing season (late 2012 to early 2013) showed favourable conditions for a great yield of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The mild summer conditions and excellent management of rich vineyards together helped in the growth of ripened grapes with intense flavours and deep, vibrant colours.
The 2013 Wicks Estate Cabernet Sauvignon displays rich flavours of blackcurrants and dark fruits. Hints of chocolate and tobacco notes in the palate make it more complex and attractive. The fine tannins developed via oak maturation lead to a solid and smooth finale.
This wine tastes equally good on immediate consumption as well as after cellaring for a few years.
