Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, established in 1886, is a fifth-generation family winery based in South Australia. They manage vineyards primarily in Riverland (and other premium blocks), producing wines that offer value, fruit purity and approachability. The Long Row range is part of their everyday-drink line, designed to deliver crisp, easy-drinking whites at an affordable price without compromising on flavour.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The fruit for this Pinot Grigio is sourced from vineyards across Riverland. The region is known for its warm days and cool overnight temperatures, which help maintain acidity and freshness in the fruit. Soils of red sandy loam over limestone provide good drainage and flavour concentration. The 2023 vintage offered enough warmth and sun for good fruit development, while early or cool-night picking helped preserve crisp, varietal character.

Winemaking

Grapes are harvested when ripe but still fresh, then gently pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to preserve purity of fruit. Minimal oak or secondary influence ensures the wine remains bright, clean and fruit-driven. There is light filtration to ensure clarity prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Pale to medium straw with lively green hues.

• Aroma: New-season pear and apple leap from the glass, followed by a hint of white peach.

• Palate: Granny Smith apple, crisp pears, with a touch of peach and citrus. A clean, crisp finish with refreshing acidity.

Great-with lighter fare: grilled seafood, soft cheeses, fresh salads or light pasta dishes. Also a lovely choice chilled on its own for warm afternoons or easy entertaining.
