Vintage Information
The 2017 vintage in the Barossa Valley experienced cooler and wetter conditions than usual, promoting vigorous vine growth. These conditions led to a later harvest, resulting in grapes with excellent flavour and colour. The 'Oscar Semmler' Shiraz is crafted from the St. Jakobi Vineyard's 5-acre "1975 Block," with fruit selected from the best-structured and most mouth-filling parcels. The wine matures in French oak barrels for up to 22 months, with regular tastings to determine the optimal blend.

Tasting Notes
The 2017 'Oscar Semmler' Shiraz displays a deep, dark red hue. On the nose, it offers complex aromas of leather, chocolate, and raspberry. The palate is full-bodied and refined, featuring flavours of dark cherry and blackberry, complemented by spicy French oak and fine-grain tannins. This wine exemplifies the exceptional quality achievable in the Barossa Valley's cooler vintages.
