Houghton Wines was founded by three British army officers — Ninian Lowis, Thomas Yule and Richmond Houghton in 1836. Houghton sources fruit from premium wine regions of Australia which includes Swan Valley, Margaret River, Pemberton, Great Southern and Mt Barker. Wines are crafted by head winemaker, Ross Pamment who continues to produce the iconic Houghton White Burgundy in a consistent and definitive manner. The winery has a 5 red star rating along with various other awards & accolades to its name.

TASTING NOTES:

A bright crimson coloured wine with purple hues. The wine bouquet has lifted red berry fruits of mulberry, plum and cherry flavours with a subtle hint of charcuterie with pepper spice and mocha notes. This medium bodied wine has a juicy upfront palate displaying flavours of plum, ripe red berries, cocoa and mocha complexity, star-anise and Indian spices. The subtle French oak flavours provide an extra dimension and length to the wine nicely balancing with fine tannins and soft acidity. You can enjoy it best with beef or lamb.
