WINERY INFORMATION:

John Riddoch migrated from Scotland to Coonawarra and established Katnook in 1896 after recognising the enormous potential of the maritime climate and unique Terra Rossa soils. Katnook Estate is a range that epitomises the Classic Coonawarra. These single varietal wines have been crafted with perfection by giving attention to details since 1980. Finely balanced wines with concentrated fruit flavours and great regional integrity. These wines will reap the benefits of many years cellaring.

TASTING NOTES:

A dark plum coloured wine with purple hues. It has a complex array of ripe fruit and oak on the nose. In addition, the vibrant dark berry fruits and cassis come together with hints of mint, chocolate and cedar oak. A richly layered palate of dark berry fruits with well integrated oak maturation flavours of cedar, dark chocolate and spice. It has a long, lingering finish with soft, fine grained tannins. Best to go with roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, Moroccan beef tagine with prunes or some aged cheddar cheese.
