Overview

This Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre blend is a classic Rhône-inspired style, crafted from old vines and designed to highlight McLaren Vale’s heritage. With balance, vibrancy, and depth, it captures the region’s ability to produce wines that are both powerful and elegant.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage in McLaren Vale was exceptional, offering near-perfect ripening conditions. Warm, even days developed full flavour intensity while cool nights preserved freshness and aromatics. The result is a vintage widely regarded as one of the best of the decade.

Winemaking

The final blend consists of Grenache (64%), Shiraz (28%), and Mourvèdre (8%). Each component was matured separately: Grenache in large French puncheons to enhance perfume and lift, Shiraz in hogsheads for richness and spice, and Mourvèdre in a mix of seasoned barrels to provide earthy structure. The careful selection of barrels created a harmonious wine with depth, vibrancy, and layered complexity.

• Appearance: Deep crimson with purple hues

• Aroma: Raspberry, violet, and strawberry intertwined with clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and dried herbs

• Palate: Juicy red fruits lead into plum and blueberry, accented by savoury spice and earthy undertones
