WINERY INFORMATION

In 1988, the Penny’s Hill winery was established on a 32-acre bare land bought by Tony and Susie Parkinson. With years of hard work and a passion-driven determination, Penny’s Hill now boasts of three vineyard sites: Penny’s Hill Vineyard, Goss Corner Vineyard and Malpas Road Vineyard. Spanning approximately 105 acres, 42.5 acres of land is devoted to various strains of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Shiraz and Merlot varieties. Other fruits are amply sourced from neighbouring vineyards within the cool climate Adelaide Hills wine region. Malpas Road Vineyard has always delivered bold and luscious Merlot from vines planted over 20 years ago.

TASTING NOTES

This juicy and vibrant Merlot from the McLaren Vale region has an alcohol content of 14.5%. This Merlot is a wine of prominent delicacy and exquisite tannin structure, with a rich and smooth dark fruit palate. The colour of the wine is dark cherry red with bright hues. From the glass unfurls alluring aromas of plum, dark cherry, black olive and tar, with nuances of chocolate. It tends to be medium bodied, with zingy minerality, light acidity and silky tannins leading to a smooth finish. This splendid red wine tastes great with foods such as light meats, chicken, or lightly spiced dark meats.
