WINERY INFORMATION
In 1839, the Johnstons moved to South Australia. Pirramimma was established in 1892 with Alexander, the tenth of thirteen Johnston children, purchasing 97 hectares of farmland, situated southeast of McLaren Vale. ‘Pirramimma’ is an Aboriginal word, referring to the moon and stars. The soil of the land varied from rich dark loam to sandy. Today, winemaking at the company is in the talented hands of Alexander’s grandson, Geoff Johnston.
TASTING NOTES
Pirramimma White Label Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark red hued wine. The attractive bouquet is intensely perfumed with blackcurrant, capsicum, violets and mint aromas, accompanied by hints of cedar oak. These fragrances make way for a dense palate filled with luscious flavours of briary blackberry, morello cherry and herbaceous tomato, coupled with black olive and quince nuances. Structured oak notes and firm tannins combine with these great characters to culminate in a lengthy and compelling finish. With a cellaring potential of eight years, this beautiful Cabernet tastes marvellous with chocolate chip cookies, grilled lamb and chicken salad.
