Rochford Wines, established in 2002 by Helmut Konecsny, is a family-owned winery located in Coldstream, Victoria, within the Yarra Valley. The winery is renowned for producing premium cool-climate wines, with a strong focus on showcasing the unique characteristics of the Yarra Valley terroir.

Vineyard and Vintage Conditions

The 2023 Syrah is sourced from Rochford's estate vineyards in the Yarra Valley. The 2023 vintage experienced a cool growing season, allowing for slow ripening and the development of concentrated flavours. The vineyard's well-drained soils and ideal microclimate impart a distinctive minerality to the wine.

Winemaking

The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the best fruit was used. Fermentation occurred in small open-top fermenters, with a portion of whole bunch inclusion to enhance aromatic complexity. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, with a balance of new and older oak, to integrate the flavours and add subtle texture.
