Rochford Wines, located in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, is well known for its family-run operation that balances high quality with approachability. Under winemaker Kaspar Hermann and owner Helmut Konecsny, the Latitude range speaks of terroir and freshness, aiming to offer wines that are expressive of cool-climate grape growing yet fun to drink without pretension.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

Fruit for the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc comes from vineyards in the Yarra Valley where cool nights and moderate daylight hours help preserve aromatic intensity and crisp acidity. The growing season offered enough warmth for ripeness, but not so much that sharpness was lost — allowing vibrant fruit character and freshness to shine through.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested at ideal ripeness and processed quickly to retain their aromatic lift. Fermentation is done in stainless steel, with temperature control to capture delicate varietal aromatics without undue oxidative influence. Lees contact is likely used briefly to round the palate, but overall oak influence is minimal or absent to keep the wine clean, fresh and fruit-driven.

• Appearance: Pale straw with green light reflections

• Aroma: Tahitian lime, kiwifruit, some passionfruit, and a hint of flinty minerality.

• Palate: Juicy, with prominent kiwifruit and passionfruit flavours, good freshness, lively acid and a clean, easy-going finish.

Food Pairing

Perfect with seafood platters, freshly shucked oysters or a light goat cheese salad. It also shines alongside grilled vegetables or Asian-inspired dishes with a touch of spice.
