Rochford Wines, established in 2002 by Helmut Konecsny, is a family-owned winery located in Coldstream, Victoria, within the Yarra Valley. The winery is renowned for producing premium cool-climate wines, with a strong focus on single-vineyard expressions that showcase the unique characteristics of each site. Isabella's Vineyard, named after Helmut's daughter, is one of their standout sites, known for its old vine plantings and exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vineyard and Vintage Conditions

The 2019 Isabella's Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Isabella's Vineyard in Coldstream, planted with D5V12 and MV6 clones. These mature vines contribute to the wine's complexity and depth. The 2019 vintage experienced a cool growing season, allowing for slow ripening and the development of concentrated flavours. The vineyard's well-drained soils and ideal microclimate impart a distinctive minerality to the wine.

Winemaking

The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the best fruit was used. Fermentation occurred in small open-top fermenters, with a portion of whole bunch inclusion to enhance aromatic complexity. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, with a balance of new and older oak, to integrate the flavours and add subtle texture.
