1164 Limited Release is the premium label of Warburn Estate, crafted by the Sergi family who have been making wine in New South Wales for almost four decades. The range focuses on small parcels of high-quality fruit and careful handcrafting to ensure every wine shows depth, character and regional identity.

Region and Vintage Conditions

The 2016 vintage experienced dry conditions with low yields, which helped produce intensely flavoured fruit. The grapes were sourced from premium growing areas within the Riverina in New South Wales, where warm days and cool nights contributed to rich colour and balanced ripeness.

Fruit was selected from small vineyard parcels known for producing high-quality Lagrein. These blocks are carefully managed to keep yields low and flavour concentration high.

Winemaking

The wine was matured for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. This approach adds structure, spice and smoothness while allowing the natural intensity of Lagrein to stand out.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Brilliant purple.

Aroma: A complex bouquet of violets, leather and spice.

Palate: Full and structured with dark chocolate, plums and subtle liquorice. Smooth tannins round out the finish.

Finish: Long, warm and richly textured with lingering dark fruit and spice.
