TASTING NOTES

A progressive take on a French classic, Noir brings Grenache together with its lesser-known red partners, Carignan, Cinsault and Counoise, in a celebration of the southern Rhône on our estate. Lifted fragrance, with bright flavours and vibrant acidity, this wine shows these ancient newcomers also thrive in our elevated corner of McLaren Vale.We had a very favourable growing season, with good winter rains, a mild flowering and fruit set period and continued spring rainfall to ensure a healthy canopy. Pleasing yields showed good balance between vine vigour and moderate berry size. The ripening period that began late January was very cool, with some welcome rainfall in mid-February. This delayed harvest, with the cold nights and mild sunny days, produced optimal fruit ripeness and intensity. The freshness and bright natural acidity of the fruit were a real feature.
