De Bortoli’s La Boheme range is named after Yarra’s Valley’s famous opera artist Dame Nellie Melba’s brilliant performance in ‘La Boheme’. ‘La Boheme’ was a very well known opera and this wine range is a tribute to Dame Nellie Melba’s work in it. The range has some amazingly fascinating wines. Two of these most loved delights are:
La Boheme Act Three Pinot Gris and Friends:
This wine is an interesting blend of four lovely white grape varietals. 90% Pinot Gris, 5% Gewurztraminer, 3% Pinot Blanc and 2% Riesling are used to craft this delicious delight. It has a vibrant straw green colour with interesting aromas of nashi pear, orange zest and honeysuckle. The wine enjoys a chic palate with flavours of oranges and green apples. Fine and mellow acidity combined with nice balance and a decent length add more value to it. This delectable wine can be consumed fresh after release and can also be cellared up to three years. Enjoy with smoked eel, shellfish, mushroom on toast and pan fried salmon etc.
La Boheme Act Four Syrah and Gamay:
A very special wine, this one is made with two beautiful red grape varieties, Syrah and Gamay. It has a dark red colour with shades of vibrant purple. The nose of this wine is made up of fragrant red berries, plums, blueberries and cherries along with some spices and herbs. Its palate is soft and supple brimming with flavours of blueberries, spices and herbs. Neat acidity and a well balanced structure make this wine more interesting. It is ready for consumption right after release and can also be cellared for about four years. Pair this blend with lamb, venison, barbecues and pork etc.
Try these two delicious wines and you would thank us for the suggestion.
