How Next-Gen Winemakers Are Making Their Way - The Launch Of Gudilly Wines

Simon Sorby Adams, a renowned name in the Australian wine industry has used his expertise to be accredited with multiple awards and accolades over his career span of 40 years.

From a popular wine show judge to an ardent winemaker, he has done it all. Rewarded with more than 60 trophies and 350 gold medals during a stellar career, including two-time ‘Best Vintage Red’ at the International Wine and Spirit Challenge in London and the ‘Best Wine of Show’ at the National Wine Show in Canberra, he’s a legend.

From making wines for companies including Yalumba Wine Company and Dorrien Estate (Cellarmaster Wines) to working in some of the most famous regions around the world, including Alsace and St Emillion (France), the Napa Valley (USA) and in New Zealand, among others, his career is to be envious of!

No matter where his working location is, his philosophy remains intact— great wines are made in the vineyard. He aims to achieve minimal intervention to enable the beauty of the fruit to shine through.

The Sorby Adams family is at the heart of everything the brand does including its success. Managed by husband and wife, Simona and Jill and now their children Angus, Digby and Sally who are an integral part of the winemaking team, they are ready to take the baton ahead as the next generation.

The vision and passion of Simon drives the Sorby Adams brand, for now, the same vision that has resulted in him being an in-demand “flying winemaker” around the world.

Gudilly – The Next-Gen Wines

The Gudilly range was born to carry the name and the commitment of Sorby Adams to excellence.

Exclusive to Just Wines, Gudilly is a portmanteau of founders Simon and Jill’s three children — Angus, Digby and Sally.

Made in a modern style, while keeping up with Simon’s commitment to excellence, these wines are personally crafted to represent their environment which is the Adelaide region in South Australia.

Contemporary and fresh, these wines are designed by Angus, Digby and Sally to appeal to wine lovers of their generation; the sheer quality of these single-vineyard wines is bound to win over everyone.

They have sourced grapes from the same vineyard that contributes to Yalumba Signature for their 2021 Cabernet and Shiraz, and the results are awe-inspiring. Also, excellence is nothing short of what you’d expect from a wine carrying the Sorby Adams name. It is what has driven Simon since he began making wines more than forty years ago. And it is what will drive Sorby Adams wines into the next generation too.
