A perfect escapade for every wine lover, the renowned Yarra Valley wine region is known for its outstanding cool climate wines in the country. The Yarra Valley wine region enjoys diverse geological conditions. A proximity to the sea along with an elevation ranging from 50m to 1250m results in a combination of continental, maritime and cool climate which defines the region.

The ancient mountain-driven soil towards the north mirrors a charming history of place. Evidences of broken sandstone dispersed in the soil adds to its richness. The other major soil type which forms the Lower and Upper valley is much younger and highly friable.

Must-Try Wines

Known for some of the finest wines, the region stays dominated by Chardonnay followed by the production of Pinot Noir. Together they make for 60% of the total harvest. Yarra Valley’s Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz stand no behind. The region is also known for the famous Bordeaux style Sauv Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Merlot blends. What makes the region more likely are the premium range of Sparkling and Rosé wines.
