Langmeil Wines from the Barossa Valley

Langmeil takes its name from the German-Lutheran village founded on this site in 1842, when twelve Prussian families settled in what's now Tanunda, at the heart of the Barossa Valley wines region. A year later, blacksmith-turned-farmer Christian Auricht planted a small block of Shiraz that's still producing fruit today believed to be the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world. The winery fell dormant in the early 1990s before the Lindner and Bitter families bought and restored the property in 1996, releasing the first wine from those old vines in 1997. Richard and Shirley Lindner took full ownership in 2011, and the winery remains family-run today, with son Paul Lindner as chief winemaker.
