Winery Background

Since 1886, Angove has stood as one of South Australia’s most respected family-owned wine makers. The Family Crest range represents their premium small-batch wines, showcasing McLaren Vale’s distinctive terroir with elegance, depth, and vineyard provenance.

Vineyards & Vintage Conditions

This Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale, benefiting from the ancient soils and maritime influences that define the region. The 2021 growing season was excellent, balanced rainfall in winter, mild spring and even ripening with only a few excessively hot days. Fruit matured slowly, yielding wines of intensity and freshness.

Winemaking

After harvest, grapes are fermented in small batches. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, allowing oak influence to build complexity without overwhelming the fruit. Tannins are refined and the wine is handled to preserve the classic cassis and dark fruit characters of Cabernet.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Deep ruby with purple hues.

• Aroma: Rich aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, mulberry, layered with cedar, tobacco, and mellow spice.

• Palate: Medium-to-full bodied, delivering bold dark fruits, soft oak, fine tannins and a finish that is elegant, powerful and persistent.
  
  

Food Pairing

Matches beautifully with roast lamb, grilled steak, hearty stews or aged cheeses. Best when served at around 16-18 °C and ideally decanted if drinking young to open up more aromatic complexity.
