Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, founded in 1886, is a fifth-generation family winery based in South Australia. With vineyards in the Riverland and McLaren Vale, Angove is celebrated for combining vineyard heritage with approachable wine styles. The Long Row range is one of their value-driven labels, focusing on freshness, varietal expression, and everyday enjoyment without compromising quality.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2023 Riesling grapes were sourced from the Riverland region, known for warm daytime temperatures and cooler nights. These conditions help preserve natural acidity while developing ripe citrus and stone fruit flavours. Harvesting often takes place in the early morning to retain aromatics and freshness. The 2023 vintage delivered good fruit concentration, balanced acidity and clean varietal character.

Winemaking

Grapes are gently harvested and pressed; fermentations are carried out in stainless steel tanks under cool conditions to ensure the preservation of floral and citrus aromas. Minimal intervention is used throughout (filtration where necessary, no heavy oak), allowing the Riesling’s natural charm to shine.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Bright pale-straw with just a hint of green sheen.
  

• Aroma: Floral citrus and tropical notes, including lime zest, subtle guava and lemon blossom.
  

• Palate: Crisp and clean, with lime and citrus flavours giving way to touches of stone fruit, underpinned by fresh acidity. A hint of guava adds some tropical brightness. The finish has surprising length, soft and clean.
  

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with light seafood dishes (grilled white fish, prawns), fresh salads, mildly flavoured cheeses, or Asian inspired cuisine. Also excellent as an aperitif on its own.
