Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, established in 1886, is a fifth-generation family winery in South Australia. They are pioneers in organic viticulture, with their certified organic Naturalis range reflecting a commitment to sustainable farming and minimal intervention winemaking. The Cabernet Sauvignon in this range is crafted from grapes grown in the certified organic Nanya Vineyard at Paringa and selected certified growers in McLaren Vale.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage benefited from warm days and cool nights, ideal for preserving the natural acidity and aromatic character of the grapes. The soils—sandy loam over limestone—provide excellent drainage, contributing to the concentration and purity of the fruit. The organic farming practices ensure that no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers are used, allowing the true expression of the terroir.

Winemaking

Grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruit purity. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged with subtle oak influence to add complexity without overshadowing the varietal character. Minimal intervention practices were employed throughout the winemaking process to maintain the organic integrity of the wine.
