Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, established in 1886, is a well-respected family-owned winery in South Australia. They are certified organic in many of their vineyards and strongly committed to sustainable farming practices. Their Organic range is made without synthetic pesticides or herbicides and aims to express pure fruit character with minimal intervention.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

This Shiraz Cabernet NV is sourced from certified organic vineyards in Riverland (and some organic growers in McLaren Vale for similar blends in the range). The Riverland region offers warm growing conditions, with lots of sunlight and soils that favour richness of flavour while retaining structure. The NV (Non-Vintage) format allows blending to ensure consistency of flavour in this style.

Winemaking

Grapes are grown organically, harvested when fruit is ripe, then vinified using careful techniques to preserve both varietals' characteristics. The wine is fermented with attention to extraction of colour, flavour and tannin in balanced proportion. Some oak influence is present (from seasoned or subtle oak), enough to round the palate and add texture without dominating the fruit. Minimal intervention and suitable vegan-friendly practices are typical for this range.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Deep red with purple hues.

• Aroma: Dark red fruit aromas, raspberry, red cherries and plum—with subtle spices and hints of chocolate and oak.

• Palate: Rich dark fruit flavours, balanced by spice, soft oak, and gentle tannin structure; there is a touch of earthiness and a finish that’s smooth but with character.

Food Pairing

Great with grilled red meats, roast lamb, shepherd’s pie or even hearty vegetarian stews. Also works nicely with mild cheeses. Best enjoyed slightly chilled (depending on climate) or at cellar temperature for fuller expression.
