Winery Background

Angove Family Winemakers, established in 1886, is a pioneering family-owned winery in South Australia. The Warboys Vineyard, situated in the heart of McLaren Vale, is among their most esteemed sites. Certified organic and biodynamic, it features some of the oldest Grenache vines in the region, producing wines that exemplify the unique terroir of McLaren Vale.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 vintage benefited from a warm growing season, allowing the Grenache grapes to achieve optimal ripeness. The Warboys Vineyard's old vines, planted between the 1940s and 1990s, contributed to the wine's depth and complexity. The certified organic and biodynamic practices ensure that the vineyard's health and biodiversity are maintained, resulting in fruit that truly reflects its origins.

Winemaking

Grapes were handpicked from the Warboys Vineyard and fermented separately to preserve the distinct characteristics of Grenache. The wine was aged in older French oak hogsheads and one-year-old French oak puncheons for 16 months, enhancing its structure and complexity. The final wine was bottled without fining or filtration to maintain purity and expression.
