Founded in 1866, Audrey Wilkinson is one of the Hunter Valley’s most historic wineries, perched atop a hill with sweeping views across the region. The Winemaker’s Selection range is crafted from premium parcels that best showcase the Hunter Valley’s unique expression of classic varieties.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2021 vintage in the Hunter Valley was marked by a mild summer and well-timed rainfall, which allowed Shiraz grapes to ripen evenly and develop intense colour and flavour while maintaining balanced acidity. Grapes for this wine were hand-selected from mature vineyards in prime Shiraz-growing sites.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were fermented in small open-top vessels with gentle plunging to extract colour and tannin. Following fermentation, the wine matured in a mix of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 12 months, enhancing texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Tasting Notes

Deep crimson with purple hues. Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and violets layered with subtle spice and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied yet rich, showing juicy black fruits, hints of pepper, fine tannins, and a long, elegant finish.
