Backwoods Distilling Co. Rye Whisky Shiraz Barrel is a uniquely Australian expression that combines the bold spice of rye whiskey with the rich influence of premium Australian Shiraz wine barrels. Crafted in New South Wales and matured in American oak before a finishing period in seasoned Shiraz casks, it develops layers of dark fruit, vanilla and warming spice while retaining the vibrant character of the rye.

The nose opens with aromas of blackberry, plum, vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, rich rye spice is balanced by notes of dark berries, caramel and pepper before finishing with lingering oak and subtle wine sweetness. It's an excellent whisky for sipping neat or enjoying in premium whiskey cocktails.

Ingredients

• 60ml Backwoods Rye Whisky Shiraz Barrel

• 1 tsp demerara syrup

• 2 dashes aromatic bitters

• Orange peel

• Ice

Method

Add all ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice. Stir well and garnish with an orange peel.
