The 2022 vintage in Central Otago was cool and steady, with long ripening and excellent fruit balance. Lower yields and a mild autumn delivered Pinot Noir with lifted aromatics, bright acidity and fine, chalky tannins.

Fruit for this wine comes from Chard Farm’s Hawkesburn Vineyard in the Cromwell Basin, a site known for low-yielding vines, schist soils and exceptional concentration. The vineyard delivers red and dark fruit with structure, tension and clarity.

Winemaking

Hand-picked fruit was fermented in small batches with gentle extraction to preserve detail and finesse. A portion of whole-bunch was included for aromatic lift. Maturation in French oak barrels was carefully managed to support texture without overshadowing the purity of the site.

Appearance: Bright garnet with ruby edges.
Aroma: Red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, violet, spice and subtle earthy notes.
