Winery Background
Coppabella Vineyard is a family‑run estate in Tumbarumba, New South Wales, managed by Jason and Alecia Brown. Perched on a steep ridge at around 600 m elevation with granite‑loam soils and a cool climate, the site is renowned for refined Pinot Noir and other cool‑climate varieties.
Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
The 2021 Pinot Noir draws fruit from multiple vineyard blocks planted to clones 777, MV6 and D5V12 located across the crest. Tumbarumba’s long, cool ripening season with marked diurnal swings produced fruit with vibrant acidity and excellent clarity.
Winemaking Process
Fruit was hand‑harvested, given a cold soak and gentle extraction. A portion of the wine was fermented with whole bunches and indigenous yeasts, then matured for 12 months in French oak barriques. Lees stirring helped soften the tannins without overpowering the fruit purity.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby‑red in the glass with expressive aromas of cherry, plum, spice and violet. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with red berry flavours, fine-grained tannins and a savoury finish that maintains refreshing clarity.
Food Pairing
Excellent with roast duck or chicken, mushroom risotto, grilled halloumi with beetroot salad or a charcuterie board. Its balance of acidity and refined texture also matches root‑vegetable dishes and soft cheeses.
Story Behind the Wine
Crest Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard expression produced to highlight the elegance of Tumbarumba terroir. The 2021 vintage is balanced and expressive, not overly manipulated and true to its place, each bottle reflecting clarity and approachable depth.
