Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
‘Te Kahu’ is Craggy Range’s iconic Bordeaux-style blend, predominantly Merlot with smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. The Gimblett Gravels’ heat-retentive soils provide perfect ripening for these varieties. The 2021 vintage was excellent, with balanced ripeness and refined tannins.

Winemaking Process
Each variety was fermented separately in stainless steel before being matured in French oak barriques (25–30% new) for 15 months. The final blend was assembled after careful tasting, emphasising structure, balance, and elegance.

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, graphite, and cedar spice. The palate is rich yet elegant, showing dark fruit layers, fine tannins, and subtle savoury complexity. A wine that combines approachability with cellaring potential.

Food Pairing
A classic match for roast beef, duck, venison, or hearty stews.
