Cullen Wines is one of Margaret River's pioneering estates, known for its biodynamic approach to viticulture and its focus on expressing the character of Wilyabrup. The Legacy Series Malbec comes from the estate's Mangan Vineyard and showcases the variety through a distinctive single-vineyard expression.

Vintage Conditions

The 2022 vintage produced wines with impressive perfume and texture. Cooler growing conditions and naturally low yields helped maintain vine health and fruit quality, resulting in a Malbec with concentrated fruit character, aromatic intensity and refined texture.

Winemaking Techniques

Made from 100% Malbec from the Mangan Vineyard, the grapes were hand harvested on a Flower Day in March and gently destemmed into 300-litre amphorae. The wine remained on its skins for 59 days before being pressed and matured for seven months in a one-year-old French oak puncheon. It was bottled in December 2022.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep purple with an elegant ruby hue

Aroma: Perfumed rose and violet with red and black berries, ripe plum, dark chocolate and subtle spice

Palate: Powerful yet inviting, with layers of plum, cherry and wild red fruit complemented by white pepper, dark chocolate and wild thyme

Finish: Long and persistent, with silky tannins, floral character and finely integrated spice
