WINERY INFORMATION
Founded by Joseph Osborn, d’Arenberg is a family owned wine company managed by third and fourth generation winemakers. Joseph was the Director of Thomas Hardy & Sons, when he sold his horse stable for purchasing a property, in the year 1912. After Joseph, his son Frank took complete charge of managing the company, subsequently establishing the winery in 1927. The present range of d’Arenberg Wines is created under the supervision of Senior Winemaker Jack Walton.
TASTING NOTES
The Hermit Crab Marsanne Viognier is a fusion of 72% Viognier grapes with 26% Marsanne grapes. These grapes were crushed, and then transferred to stainless steel for basket pressing. The resulting blend flaunts a bright straw colour with golden tints. Candied ginger, stone fruit and floral aromas combine with exotic scents of almond, green mango and hay, to offer a luxurious bouquet. The sweet and medium bodied palate is supported by fine acidity to provide a mild pithy texture. This wonderful white blend ends in a spicy, yet dry and refreshing finale. It tastes great with ginger and scallion crab, or endive salad with blue cheese.
