Dal Zotto Wines, founded by Otto Dal Zotto in 1987, is a pioneering family-owned winery in Victoria’s King Valley. Renowned as Australia’s Prosecco trailblazers, the Dal Zotto family also celebrates their Italian heritage through plantings of classic northern Italian varietals, such as Barbera.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
The King Valley’s high-altitude vineyards, cool nights, and long growing season provide the ideal environment for Barbera. The 2022 vintage brought a balance of warm ripening conditions and steady rainfall, producing fruit with excellent colour, lively acidity, and varietal purity.

Winemaking Process
Grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in small batches to preserve bright aromatics and fruit intensity. Gentle maceration encouraged colour and tannin balance, before maturation in seasoned oak, which added complexity while maintaining freshness.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with purple hues. Aromas of wild cherries, plum, and violets with hints of spice and dried herbs. The palate is vibrant and medium-bodied, showing flavours of red berry compote, dark cherry, and savoury spice. Natural acidity and fine tannins drive a refreshing, lingering finish.
