The Deen Vat series celebrates the pioneering spirit of Deen De Bortoli, a winemaker known for innovation and a deep respect for tradition. Vat 1 Durif is a bold, expressive wine that captures the intensity and richness of this distinctive variety.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
Sourced from premium vineyards in Victoria’s King Valley, the 2022 vintage experienced warm, dry days and cool nights. This perfect ripening climate allowed the Durif grapes to develop deep colour, concentrated flavours, and fine tannin structure.

Winemaking Process
Fermentation took place on skins for optimal colour and tannin extraction. The wine was then matured in a mix of French and American oak barrels, enhancing complexity with notes of spice and mocha.

Tasting Notes
Inky purple in the glass, with lifted aromas of blackberry, plum, and hints of dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied and plush, offering rich dark fruit flavours, savoury spice, and velvety tannins that lead to a lingering, powerful finish.

Perfect with slow-cooked beef short ribs, chargrilled venison, or a rich mushroom and lentil casserole.
