Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes is a respected family estate in Morgon, Beaujolais, known for producing wines that express the character of their individual vineyards. Les Impénitents comes from some of the domaine's oldest vines, planted around 1912 and 1914 in the Javernières sector. The cuvée is regarded as one of the estate's most distinctive and age-worthy wines.

Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage produced wines with excellent concentration while retaining freshness and balance. The old vines naturally deliver small quantities of intensely flavoured fruit, giving this Morgon depth and structure while preserving the lively character of Gamay.

Winemaking Techniques

Made from 100% Gamay, the grapes are traditionally vinified to preserve the purity of the fruit and the character of the Javernières terroir. The old-vine fruit undergoes extended fermentation and maceration before being matured to develop greater depth, texture and integration.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep ruby red with purple highlights

Aroma: Dark berries, ripe cherry, rose petals, liquorice, graphite and subtle forest-floor notes

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained slightly chalky tannins and vibrant freshness

Finish: Long, structured and savoury, with notes of black tea, mineral and dark fruit
