Driftwood Estate is a boutique winery situated in the Wilyabrup sub-region of the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. Established in 1989 by Tom and Helen Galopoulos on what was once a country retreat, the estate quickly earned acclaim and has become one of the region’s most respected names. The coastal location offers a maritime climate and gravelly soils, ideal conditions for producing wines of depth and elegance.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

The 2022 Cabernet Merlot is drawn from meticulously managed vineyards in Margaret River, where the moderate temperatures and ocean-influenced climate allowed for slow, measured ripening. These conditions ensured the Cabernet Sauvignon component developed fine structure and restrained tannins, while the Merlot delivered plush fruit expression and smooth texture.

Winemaking

Harvested at optimal ripeness, the Cabernet and Merlot parcels were fermented separately and blended to highlight their complementary strengths.
