Winery Overview

Eldorado Road is a boutique, family-run winery in north-east Victoria dedicated to crafting expressive wines from the region’s special sites. Their Quasimodo blend is a creative, bold expression of three varieties that when combined deliver more than the sum of their parts.

Region & Vintage Conditions

The 2022 growing season in Victoria delivered cool nights and mild days, resulting in even ripening and good flavour concentration in the fruit. The grapes for this blend were sourced from a selection of vineyards across Eldorado, Beechworth, Glenrowan and Rutherglen, taking advantage of diverse sites and soils.

This blend is composed of approximately 35% Nero d’Avola, 33% Shiraz and 32% Durif. Each variety brings its unique character: Nero d’Avola adds lifted aromatics and bright fruit, Durif contributes structure and dark intensity, while Shiraz ties everything together with spice and texture.

Winemaking

The fruit was gently handled with open fermenters and daily plunging, followed by basket pressing direct into seasoned French oak. The maturation period built complexity while preserving the fresh, fruit-driven core of the wine. The wine is unfined, gently filtered and vegan friendly.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep crimson colour with violet hints.
Aroma: A vibrant mix of blackberry, black cherry, red plum, accompanied by warm spice, cocoa and subtle earth-driven notes.
Palate: Medium-bodied yet layered, with dark fruit flavours, chocolate, subtle savoury complexity and fine chalky tannins giving structure without heaviness. Bright acidity keeps the wine lively.
Finish: Long and satisfying, leaving lingering dark-fruit notes, warm spice and gentle oak in its wake.
