Fowles Wines is a family‑run estate located in the Strathbogie Ranges, Victoria. Their “Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch” series is inspired by wild‑food cuisine and captures pure, vibrant fruit flavours in a distinctly regional style. The 2022 Chardonnay stands out for its aromatic complexity and textural clarity.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

Fruit for the 2022 Chardonnay was sourced from vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges and Yarra Valley, including the Greenstone block (over 35 years old) and Upton Run Block 16. Cool elevation and granite soils preserve expressive acidity and varietal detail.

Winemaking Process

All fruit was picked in the cool early hours to retain freshness, then wild-fermented in oak barrels (primarily French puncheons). The wine spent 14 months on lees, building texture while maintaining clarity, and was bottled under screwcap.

Tasting Notes

Pale golden straw in the glass with intense aromas of white peach, nectarine, pear and lemon blossom, balanced by minerality and gentle oak spice. The palate is rich and mouth-filling, combining stone fruits with citrus zest and subtle almond meal character, leading to a lengthy finish.
