Product Description
Winery Background
Greenock Creek is one of the Barossa Valley’s most iconic small producers, renowned for intensely concentrated, high-impact Shiraz from tiny single vineyards. Established in 1984, the winery has built a cult following for wines that reflect power, richness, and an unfiltered expression of Barossa terroir. The Roennfeldt Road Shiraz stands at the very top of the portfolio—rare, bold, and unmistakably Greenock Creek.
Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
Roennfeldt Road is sourced from low-yielding, dry-grown vines in Marananga, one of the warmest and most prestigious pockets of the Barossa Valley. The 2018 vintage was near perfect, with warm days, cool nights, and an extended ripening season that delivered superb fruit intensity, thick skins, and beautifully balanced natural tannin.
Winemaking Process
Fruit is handpicked at optimal ripeness and fermented in small open vats to preserve depth and structure. Extended maceration contributes to the wine’s signature concentration. The wine is then matured in a selection of high-quality American and French oak barrels to build complexity, power, and longevity.
Tasting Notes
A deeply coloured, full-bodied Shiraz with explosive aromas of blackberry, dark plum, licorice, cocoa, and warm spices. The palate is rich and commanding, layered with dense black fruits, espresso, dark chocolate, and savoury earth. Powerful tannins, generous oak, and immense length define this iconic Barossa wine. Built for long-term cellaring.
Food Pairing
Ideal with slow-braised beef short ribs, ribeye steak, venison, or hearty dishes rich in flavour and spice.
Story Behind the Wine
Roennfeldt Road is crafted only in years when the vineyard produces fruit of extraordinary quality. The 2018 vintage showcases everything that has made this wine a Barossa legend—intensity, depth, and the unmistakable stamp of its Marananga origins. A collector’s wine with a reputation for ageing gracefully over decades.
