The Henschke family, one of Australia’s most revered wine dynasties, has been crafting wines of character and integrity since 1868. Their Eden Valley vineyards are celebrated for producing distinctive cool-climate styles. Louis' Discovery Semillon forms part of the Louis Henschke range, honouring the family’s history of vineyard exploration and dedication to varietal purity.

Vineyards and Vintage Conditions

Sourced from Eden Valley vineyards, perched at higher altitudes, this Semillon benefits from cooler nights and a long, slow ripening season. The 2022 vintage was excellent—mild conditions and extended ripening delivered grapes with outstanding flavour intensity, bright natural acidity, and crisp freshness.

Winemaking Process

Grapes were hand-picked and gently pressed to preserve aromatic delicacy. Cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks retained fruit vibrancy and purity, with no oak influence, allowing the wine to express its terroir-driven minerality and freshness.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw with green highlights. The bouquet bursts with lemon zest, lime blossom, and fresh-cut herbs, layered with subtle mineral notes. On the palate, it is crisp, vibrant, and tightly structured, showing citrus and green apple with hints of wet stone. The finish is long, dry, and refreshing, with the potential to develop toasty, honeyed complexity over time.
