This Pinot Gris from Huia is a refined Marlborough expression, crafted from organically grown fruit with a focus on purity, texture and balance. The 2024 vintage delivers both concentration and elegance, shaped by careful vineyard management and thoughtful winemaking.

Winery

Huia is a Marlborough-based producer known for organic practices and small-batch winemaking. Founded in 1994 and now led by Tom Pegler, the winery focuses on minimal intervention and wines that reflect both place and season.

Named after the native Huia bird, a revered Māori symbol of honour and connection, the winery’s approach centres on balance, respect and craftsmanship.

Vintage & Vineyard

The 2024 growing season began with a cool flowering period, resulting in naturally low yields and concentrated fruit. This was followed by a long, warm summer with minimal rainfall, allowing for optimal ripening and excellent fruit quality.

The fruit was sourced from well-established vines in Grovetown, located in the Lower Wairau Valley.

Winemaking

• Hand harvested and gently pressed

• Cold settled before fermentation

• Fermented using a mix of organic and wild yeasts

• A combination of stainless steel and seasoned barriques used

• Minimal intervention approach
